Bienvenue!

The Alliance Française Dunedin is a centre for French language and French culture. Although some of our events are in French, most are bilingual. Members do not have to be fluent in French to take advantage of our various activities.

Most of our events are held at our clubrooms at 15 Bond Street, behind the Exchange post office. Everyone is welcome… come and practice your French!

Our regular meetings (and opening hours) are:

  • Soirée Crêpes – Pancakes night: 2nd Thursday of the month from 6.00pm – 2ème jeudi du mois à partir de 18h00
  • Le p’tit déj – French Brunch: 1st Saturday of the month from 10:30am – 1er samedi du mois à partir de 10h30
  • Soirée Cinéma  Movie night: 4th Friday of the month from 6pm – 4ème vendredi du mois à partir de 18h00 *for 2022, Ciné-club will begin in April*

From time to time, we do change the day of those events not to clash with some other events, so please contact us beforehand or check our FB page to be sure we’ll be there. For more information, email info@afdunedin.org.nz.

Even though everyone staying at home, it doesn't mean we can't enjoy good crêpes. So tomorrow, head to your kitchen, gather some ingredients and make some delicious crêpes! Here's the original recipe from Vito :

    100 g farine/flour
    1 œuf/egg
15 mls (1 Tbsp) huile ou beurre / vegetable oil or butter
    200 mls lait/milk
    ¼ tsp sel/salt
    ½ tsp sucre/sugar

In a blender, whizz all together for 30 seconds.
Rest for 30 minutes before using.

Makes about 5 crepes, so multiply as needed.

Take photos and share them here so we can keep the crêpe spirit alive during the lockdown!

    Bonjour a tous,

We know some of you are bored at home or perhaps you need a break from your families every so often, so we are now offering AF classes in 4-week block classes for the duration of Alert Level 4.

You can enrol for Kids Classes here and Adult classes here.

All classes will be taught via Zoom, so you don't need to go anywhere. All you need is an internet connection!

As you all know, non-essential businesses are getting shut down during the quarantine.

We're sad to announce that as a result, Alliance Française will be closed until further notice.

However, we will try to share with everyone some ressources so you can spend your time at home learning more about French language and culture, and have a few moments away from the current situation.

Stay tuned as we're working to get this initiative ready.

Stay safe and STAY HOME, this is the best you can do to protect your and others life, and to reduce the time needed to a regular situation.
